Krazy Kanuka Killer – Cromwell

Saturday 2nd April 2019

Contact: Andy 022 615 424

From casual jogger to die-hard running enthusiast, this event is suitable for runners from every ability level. The beautiful scenery is so distracting you might even forget you’re running… just watch out for the historic mining holes!

There are no medals up for grabs, just some category & spot prizes PLUS a celebratory after-party in Wanaka on Saturday evening, all are welcome

The Course:

12km Loop Trail (difficulty = high)

The trail run traverses some open country before crossing a stile and heading clockwise through the Kānuka Scenic Reserve in the Chinamans Creek catchment. The trail then climbs into a typical Lower Dunstan Mountains landscape to pass through re-generated Kānuka forest and impressive rocky crags with magnificent views over Lake Dunstan and the Upper Clutha Valley.

It then runs around the back of Chinamans Creek’s gully before traversing a ridge and following the front ridge line that faces the Upper Clutha Valley. Deep in Chinamans Creek, where the track crosses back, if you feel tired now there’s a biv for shelter near stone hut ruins, along with several relics of earlier years.

Grab your running shoes and some mates and head to the KKK 2018!
